The Positivity Challenge — Results

I finished the Positivity Challenge a few days ago — here are my results.

The biggest difference that I notice from doing the challenge is an awareness of negative thoughts and the beginnings of a habit of consciously making myself see the positive side of them. I was a pretty positive person before the challenge, but I was surprised that I had some little pockets of negativity that had worked their way into my life without my even knowing it.

Also — I can see that the Positivity Challenge could conceivably have sexual benefits as well. Much of our anxiety and nervousness comes from negativity — we have to be on edge to deal with the negative threats we perceive as coming at us. Being able to see the positive side of every situation helps you get out of this “deal with threats” mentality. This isn’t to say that continuously positive thoughts are better than the absence of thoughts (Immersion), but replacing a negative thoughts with a positive in a situation where you have to think something is definitely helpful.

I found that I had to make much less adjustment to my actual speech and social behavior than my internal thoughts. This is because I’ve trained myself to vibe and spin negative topics into positives before, so this part of the challenge came easy to me. If you don’t know how to do this, check out my post A Complete Guide to Vibing for more help in this area.

The situations that I found it hardest to stay positive in were when I was around persistently negative people. Their negativity is like an airborne disease — if you’re in the same room as them, it’s very hard not to catch. I had mixed success with staying positive, and more towards the end of the week. In the long term though, I think the best strategy for me would be to eliminate these people from my life. Sure I could keep them and fight their negativity if I absolutely had to, but why make things harder than they need to be? In addition to learning to see the positive side of situation, I learned the value of positive people and the necessity to eliminate sources of negativity from your life.

Overall, a good experience. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their social skills and their life in general.
